BioDiesel Ltd. (now BioFuel AS), a Norwegian producer of biofuel, is supplying fuel for Rogaland County's first biodiesel station run by Miljøparken (formerly Plantasjen) in the municipal of Sandnes. The station, which is built around a 20-feet standard container with a flexitang, can hold up to 24,000 litres and can be transported to virtually anywhere with minimal cost.
Sandnes mayor Jostein W. Rovik cut the ribbon on the new station, remarking on the tremendous advantages of biodiesel, which can be used in over half of the cars on the road today. Bengt Borsheim, Miljoparken manager, also recognized biodiesel as an important contributor to an environmentally friendly and sustainable future for Norway.
Biodiesel reduces CO2 emissions by 80 percent and, at NOK 8.90 (inclusive 25 percent VAT), is priced well below the pump price for fossil diesel. Customers who wish to purchase biodiesel can contact personnel at Miljoparken for more information. Larger biodiesel consumers can purchase their own electronic key for access.
Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00.
